Miss Firecracker (DVD) Drama - general DVD - A hot tamale tries to throw off a different sort of heat in this comedy of small-town manners. Carnelle Scott (Holly Hunter) is best-known in her hometown of Yazoo City, MS, for her unrepentant promiscuity. An orphan taken in by her genteel relatives, she idolizes her older cousin, Elain Rutledge (Mary Streenburgen), a former Fourth of July "Miss Firecracker" contest winner who is taking time out from her life as a pampered wife in Atlanta to give a speech on "My Life as a Beauty" at this year's pageant. Determined to follow in Elain's footsteps, Carnelle puts a damper on her libido and enlists the help of local seamstress Popeye Jackson (Alfre Woodard) in preparing for the pageant. She also implores Elain to let her borrow the red dress in which Elain won the contest in 1972. Meanwhile, Elain's brother, ne'er-do-well Delmount Williams (Tim Robbins), arrives with a get-rich-quick scheme that involves hocking the family estate. Into this mix steps Mac Sam (Scott Glenn), one of the men who contributed to Carnelle's scandalous past. Adapted by Beth Henley from her own play The Miss Firecracker Contest, Miss Firecracker finds Hunter reprising her stage role. The actress also starred in Henley's Crimes of the Heart on Broadway, although she did not appear in the 1986 film adaptation. Woodard and Steenburgen previously appeared together in Cross Creek. Miss Firecracker was shot on-location in real-life Yazoo City. - Miss Firecracker (DVD) |

The Bad News Bears Collection (Set) Collection includes "The Bad News Bears," "The Bad News Bears In Breaking Training" and "The Bad News Bears Go To Japan." "The Bad News Bears" - A major surprise as one of 1976's top-grossing films, "The Bad News Bears" is a movie about children that is refreshing, utterly believable, and quite cleverly funny. Walter Matthau is at his absolute best as the grumbling beer-guzzling former minor-league pitcher who gets roped into coaching a band of half-pint misfits somewhat loosely called a team. With this bunch in uniform, it's impossible to get caught up in the suburban competitive spirit that drives other adults to extremes of parental discipline. So, instead, the Bears have a good time. "The Bad News Bears In Breaking Training" - "The Bad News Bears In Breaking Training" is the comic and poignant second-in-the-series of adventures with the pint-sized sandlot ballplayers initiated with the smash success, "The Bad News Bears." The picture picks up the Bears' career a year after their infamous second-place finish in the North Valley League. Faced with a chance to play the Houston Toros for a shot at the Japanese champs, they devise a way to get to Texas to play at the famed Astrodome. On their pilgrimage to Houston, the Bears gain a new coach; dump that fastball over the plate; find another coach who shows him how it's done, and go on to a come-back victory with all eyes on Japan. "The Bad News Bears Go To Japan" - Caught in a clash of cultures and ready to wreak more havoc on Japan than Godzilla, the Bad News Bears are back for their third outing, following the enormously successful "The Bad New Bears" and "The Bad News Bears In Breaking Training." This time the Bears have been spirited off to Tokyo by Tony Curtis as Marvin Lazar, a slick and sleazy con artist who sees in the team a perfect peg for a get-rich-quick scheme. The strikeout-prone Bears are pitted against a murderously skillful Japanese junior baseball team, and the resulting comic chaos is hilarious. |

Q. Please give honest answers and links only if you have actually profited. I already know most spam sites so please don't post them. Thanks a lot!

A. I can't believe that these things still exist. I've never even heard of anyone making any kind of real money at any of them. Lots of people have lied to me and said they did though. You would think that people would be hip to the fact that these things are all scams. But no. Nowadays few are satisfied with a comfy middle class life. They want to be millionaires. Not gonna happen for most. Not necessary for any to live a good life. If I wuz you I'd forget about such nonsense and devote my energy to things that will actually bear fruit. Just my two cents. Do as you wish.
