Gambling is the wagering of money or something of material value on an event with an uncertain outcome with the primary intent of winning additional money and/or material goods. Typically, the outcome of the wager is evident within a short period. The term gaming in this context typically refers to instances in which the activity has been specifically permitted by law. The two words are not mutually exclusive; i.e., a “gaming” company offers (legal) “gambling” activities to the public. This distinction is not universally observed in the English-speaking world, however. Change in attitude, anger, argues, distant, uncaring. Says they have quit but you know they haven't. Brag and lie about winning and tries to minimize losses. Depression. Bills are not being payed. Gambles to try and get back(even). Starts to break the law, fraud, forgery, theft. Health starts to decline. Loses interest in family, job, hobbies. No explanation for whereabouts. The increased need to gamble more often with greater amounts. These are just some that come to mind and there are probably 100 more.
